Bobby Shantz is a former left-handed pitcher who played in MLB between 1949 and 1964. Beginning as a starting pitcher, Bobby transformed into an ace relief pitcher halfway through his career. He played for seven teams during his career, but he spent the majority of his career with the Philadelphia / Kansas City Athletics, New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals. He was the American League MVP in 1952 with the Athletics. Bobby was a 3-time All-Star and he won a World Series with the Yankees in 1958. He also made three appearances in both the 1957 and 1960 World Series. Bobby was known as an outstanding fielder and he won the Golden Glove Award for pitchers 8 consecutive seasons from 1957 to 1964. Bobby led the American League in wins in 1952 and he led MLB in ERA in 1957. Today, Bobby is 95 years old and is the oldest living former MVP.
