Don Kessinger is a former MLB shortstop who played primarily with the Chicago Cubs over a 13-year career. Primarily a defensive specialist, Don was considered one of the very best shortstops of the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was named to the All-Star team six times. Don was one of the key members of the 1969 Chicago Cubs teams that came so very close to breaking the pennant winning drought that Chicago suffered for decades. At the end of his career, Don played briefly with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox. It was with the White Sox that he became the last player-manager in American League history. Still, Don will always be remembered and beloved for his time with the Cubs, particularly the '69 Cubs. His signed helmet is very rare and would be a wonderful gift for any Cubs or MLB fan.
