Sam McDowell is a former MLB starting pitcher noted for his blazing fastball who was one of the most dominate pitchers of the 1960's and very early 1970's. Sam pitched in the majors from 1961 to 1975, primarily with the Cleveland Indians. He also played for the San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a 6-time All Star (1965-1966, 1968-1971) with the Indians and he led the American League in strike-outs five times (1965, 1966, 1968-1970.) Sam won 141 games in his career, but alcohol issues dimmed his once sparkling career.
